Media Mentor offers highly effective media training in TV and radio studios throughout the UK . Our media training courses give everyone who deals with the press the confidence to handle enquiries and interviews positively, to structure effective key messages, and to develop a powerful communications strategy.
Here you will find out more about what our media training courses offer; our in-house media training facilities and studios we use such as the BBC and Real Radio.
Media Training Courses
Introductory Course
This media training course is designed for people with little or no experience of dealing with journalists.
You will find out what journalists think of your organisation and sector. Learn what they are looking for from you. See and put into practice our top tips for handling calls from the media, so that you gain, and maintain, control.
Take part in our unique Key Message Development Workshop. And finally practice all the skills you have learnt, in a TV interview.
Intermediary Course
Our intermediary course is the most popular, and probably the most relevant for all clients.
We give an eye-opening insight into the world of journalists. We will show you what the media are already saying about your and your sector. We follow up with our much-praised 'key message development' workshop.
We can even include training in writing effective press releases and selling-in stories to the press. But the highlights of the day are the realistic, challenging and invigorating radio and television interview sessions. Radio skills can be booked at BBC studios.
Advanced/Crisis Course
Our Advanced/Crisis Course gives senior, experienced spokespeople the ability to handle aggressive questioning by journalists, and to emerge with credit from a challenging situation.
It always includes media training by a well-known broadcaster from our journalists' panel.
During the course of one intensive day, participants will gain an insight into how other organisations have handled the media onslaught – and will practice, in complete confidentiality, the techniques which effectively defuse probing questions.
Clients
Media Mentors' client base is large and varied. It includes some of the best-known companies in the UK , and many public sector organisations. We always strive to leave our clients with the confidence and appetite to engage positively with the media.

"A huge thank-you for presenting and facilitating the media training for our academics . The feedback has been so positive so far ranging from your training techniques, professional expertise as a broadcaster to tips on 'what not to do'! You and Bill make a fantastic duo and the audience thoroughly enjoyed your anecdotes and the ease with which you encouraged their participation. I really look forward to planning our next training course with you. "
