Redbook magazine is published by Hearst Publications, which launched O, the Oprah Magazine. Hearst distributes many successful magazines including Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Marie Claire, and Town and Country.
Redbook is for young working women who must maintain a balance between their careers and their personal lives. Feature articles in this monthly magazine cover diet, beauty, fitness, relationships, finance, and so much more.
What do couples really want today? Apparently, The REDBOOK Love Network, which was developed to help make the lives of young married women "manageable, exciting and, ultimately, more satisfying," can be trusted to keep readers abreast of the latest news, studies, and advice about married life. Hmmm. The Love Network (smirk) is comprised of a team of experts on relationships and marriage.
They use their expertise to bring readers the most recent research on love, sex, communication, money, parenting, and lifestyle issues. The magazine claims that their incomparable top experts offer solutions to the problems that come with married life. If that weren't enough, these experts offer insight into what "makes the world go round".
What does one reader think of the expert advice? Consider this excerpt from an online reviewer, "Another cutting edge tip here in this new marriage institute theme of Redbook is to totally turn him on by putting your name where it's private. If you buy him some boxer shorts with his name on them (for a price of $25 a pair), then you're probably going to have a grand sex life. Perhaps, I've lived a sheltered life. But, it's not been my experience that men care what the shorts look like as long as they are clean and in the drawer for tomorrow. Heck. They'll just pick them up off the floor and wear them dirty. We are expected to think that some fancy embroidered shorts are going to do the trick? I think not." Touché.
Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people who love what Redbook has to offer. The target audience for this magazine is made up of young married or committed (not hospitalized, silly!) women looking for girlfriend-like advice. If that is your thing, then Redbook is for you.
