We the inhabitants of this small landscape in the southwestern corner of India, calls Kerala as god's own country. So what do we have to substantiate this claim? You may ask. Yes, we are living in a very beautiful land , full of greenery, as one of our poets put it

" Having the head on the blue carpeted Sahya Mountains, and having the foot in the calm seas"
Kerala is lying.

We have a vast array of natural wealth. The forests in Wayanad, hill stations in Munnar, the forts in Bakel, The backwaters of kumarakom,the beach of alleppy and cherai, the year old temples of Trivandrum, The churches established by St.Thomas, The jewish cinagoge in Cochin, etc are some of the things that we boast of.

Many classical art forms have their birthplace as Kerala. Kathakali, Theyyam, Mudiyettu, Oppana, Ottan thullal etc .are some of our folk arts. I will write about them later in a separate article.

Keraites are famous for their hospitality. Our puutu, idli, Idiyappom, sambar, aviyal, payasom etc are world famous. If you visit kerala ,don't forget to get into a Kerala restaurant and enjoy these.

Malayalam is the main language in Kerala. It is having a very rich literature. Many great writers like Kamala Das, Arundhathi roy,
Thakazhi sivasankarappilla, Vaikkom Muhhammed Basheer, Sara Joseph hail from kerala.

Many Malayalam movies are considered to be classic works. "John Abraham", Ramu Karyattu and Adoor Gopalakrishan are some of the world famous keralites who has contributed in this field.

Kerala is the first state in Asia to have a communist ministry elected. Great communist leaders like EMS and AKG, hail from Kerala.

Many great people like Swathi Thirunal,Chembai Vaidya Natha Bagavathor has raised Karanatic music to its heights in Kerala.

Kerala is a land of festivals. Onam is our national festival. We also have festivals for each of the places in Kerala.

Kerala had given birth to several great persons.

Our state is part of India, which boasts of one of the oldest heritages in the world. Kerala itself has a rich culture and is having a high level of literacy, compared to many other parts of the world. Also most of the youth are educated and capable to compete with the rest of the world.

Kerala is the land of many religions. Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Parsis live in harmony here.

Kerala is having a very goods climate and transportation is fantastic.
