Is There a Perfect Cookie Cutter Golf Swing?
A good golf swing isn't up for sale. There's simply no way you can buy a good swing. If money could buy good swings then the rich should have all the good swings, but they don't. So all the costly tips and aids and videos aren't going to give it to you. However, you can acquire a good swing.

A good swing doesn't come by reading, watching or even taking lessons. A good swing can only be acquired by constant, regular and unrelenting practice – along with a good dose of guidance, through which you get a few tips and sound time-proven principles, and of course by adhering to these principles.

So practice but practice with purpose. Here are some swing tips. First of all remember that these tips are meant to get you started. Once you're on your way, you aren't going to think of the tips, the postures and the motions – you're going to act, and you're going to act in a manner that has become second nature to you – that's what practice is all about. So when you're starting, remember the stance, the grip and the swing and try to practice them slowly. When you have the hang of it practice the swings without thinking of the theories or tips. One more important thing – when you start your practice, do it without the golf ball. When the swing has become second nature to you and all thoughts of tips are in the background, bring the ball in – for more practice. Now for some basics that should help you.

Stand erect with your feet about thirty inches apart. Grip the golf club with the palm of your left hand and the fingers of your right hand with the left arm above the right. It is important that you be able to swing your arms freely while bringing in a bit of wrist work when you swing. Your body, arms, wrists and feet are all going to play a role in ensuring the right swing.

Lean forward slightly from the hips holding your arms straight ahead. The ball is in front of you. Swing the club backward allowing your elbows to bend slightly till your arms are raised almost straight up cranking your wrists all the while, so that when your arms are raised straight up, your wrists are wrenched ninety degrees, perpendicular to the arms. The golf club is now parallel to the ground. Your body is now twisted at a small angle towards the right – anticlockwise when you view form the top. Your front leg is flexed at the knee placing it at an angle to the ground. If you are a lefthander, your directions of movement would be exactly opposite of these. When it comes to golf, though, most people, including those who are otherwise left-handed, play as right-handed people.

Next, bring the club down in a smooth swing allowing your wrists to unwind and strike the ball. (When you practice without the ball, you can aim for the grass). Follow through the downswing taking the club right over your head till the arms is straight up and the golf club is almost parallel to the ground. While bringing the club down your front leg becomes straight and perpendicular to the ground, while the hind leg is flexed forward at the knee. At the follow through, your body is turned at a slight angle to the left.

Remember; when you're actually playing, you shouldn't be thinking about all this. Your whole body – arms, wrists, knees, hips, feet, and shoulders – should be moving harmoniously and smoothly. The description of the posture, grip and action are only to get you started with the right grip, stance and motions. Once you've mastered them your practice should make sure that they could happen – every time. There's no one swing that's the perfect swing. What's more important though is that it should be repeatable and should work for you every time.
